ORANGE COUNTY: OUR PICKS

Top things to do

Golfing

Internationally known as California’s “Golf Coast,” Orange County perfectly blends golf courses with breathtaking views. We recommend Strawberry Farms, Oak Creek, Tustin Ranch, Pelican Hill and the Monarch Beach Golf Links.

Catalina Island

An excursion to a different world — of fun living and sunny beaches only 26 miles across the sea. Catalina Island has been host to visitors for years, and still manages to maintain a European village atmosphere. The island’s unhurried pace has the feel of a private resort far removed, only two hours from the mainland via ferry.

Mission San Juan Capistrano

Our historic gem is long famous for the annual migration of the swallows to this site on March 19th and just a few miles south of Laguna Beach. The Mission provides a tangible reminder of early California life through original adobe buildings, idyllic gardens, the Serra Chapel – the oldest building in California and remnants of an 18th-century Spanish encampment and has done so for over 230 years.

Hiking

Orange County has more than 32,000 acres of urban wilderness. From easy to strenuous, Orange County offers an abundance of trails for guests to explore and enjoy nature.

Disneyland

Spend the day at the original “Happiest Place on Earth”, at the Anaheim Disneyland Resort! Let your imagination run wild as you explore every themed land – from Adventureland to Fantasyland, there’s something for everyone!

Dolphin Safari

Let Celebrity Naturalists share their abundant knowledge of these animals with you! Get up close and personal with the four spectacular species of dolphins that call this area home and love to get within arm’s reach of their catamaran audience. Guests can even hear these animals with underwater hydrophones and see them through the exclusive underwater viewing pod — the only one like it in the world!

Paddleboarding

Dana Point Harbor was voted the best paddle boarding spot in Orange County. Over the summer, guests can experience the art of stand up paddle boarding at night in Newport Harbor with Pirate Coast Paddles’ Glow Night Tours.

Jetpacking

Newport Beach is home to the world’s first water propelled jetpack flying experience where guests can experience a flight like Iron Man or dive like Aquaman and skim across the waters at speeds of 35 m.p.h.

Duffy Boats

Experience first-class stylish, on-the-water fun by trying an electric boat cruise through Newport Harbor. These quiet, comfortable boats feature colorful canopies, heaters, and clear siding for inclement weather. Sit back, relax, and enjoy vistas of quaint Balboa Island, lovely Linda Isle, and regal Lido Islands from a unique perspective!

Bike Rides

It’s time to hop on a bike for an afternoon of fun! Guests board bikes and take in breathtaking sites that Newport Beach is known for. From its quaint island retreats to its spectacular surrounding neighborhoods, Newport Harbor is one of the largest natural harbors in the United States.

Top places to eat

Javier’s, Newport

On the main drag in Newport Coast, shoppers and tourists “break” at Javier’s for friendly service in a tropical setting. Outdoor dining, large palms and a hip but sophisticated bar attract passersbys. Javier’s fresh, authentic ingredients are key to traditional Mexican favorites.

Watermarc, Laguna Beach

Watermarc brings together the vision of pairing great food with great beverage. Lunch and dinner menus begin with a segment of 26 Grazing Plates, and then move forward with more contemporary and traditional menu components.

The Cannery, Newport Beach

The story of The Cannery covers over 80 years of American history, when the first commercial fish cannery was built along the Rhine. This part of the harbor was (and still is) the hub of commercial fishing boat activities in Newport Beach. The Cannery was converted to a beautiful harbor-side restaurant and features a variety of fresh seafood, steaks, chicken, salads and the finest sushi and sashimi in Newport Beach.

The Ranch, Anaheim

Featuring true American regional cuisine, The Ranch offers the finest ingredients possible to capture the rustic style of wine country and the freshest flavors of the farm. The emphasis is on fresh organically grown fruits and vegetables from local farms and from their own ranch in the Santa Ana Mountains.

Tabu Grill, Laguna Beach

The word Tabu is from the Polynesian Tongan people’s tongue and means, ‘Set apart or Forbidden’ which sets the tone for this unparalleled restaurant. The seductive curve of the grill top overlooking the display kitchen beckons you to engage in some voyeuristic urges and watch as they work their magic with their delectable ingredients.

Sapphire, Laguna Beach

Global cuisine with a full sensual experience — an innovative menu, fun cocktail scene, beautiful patio with an ocean view, art displays, and always a sense of hospitality. Sapphire Laguna is committed to providing guests with exceptional service, quality, and sets the gastronomic benchmark for cuisine in Southern California.

Nick’s, Laguna Beach

Dine. Drink. Escape at Nick’s Laguna Beach Restaurant and Bar. The indoor/outdoor venue features Classic American comfort food with flair, crave-able bar snacks, plus unique cocktails & an extensive wine list. Nick’s Laguna Beach is the latest addition to Southern California’s culinary landscape.
