SAN DIEGO, Calif., July 2, 2015 – Once again, Successful Meetings Magazine presents its yearly list of luminaries, and AlliedPRA is pleased to announce that its President, Denise Dornfeld is among those recognized as the Top 25 Most Influential People in the Meetings Industry for 2015. The list of inductees were chosen because they have either contributed to the business of meetings, made it easier for meeting professionals to do their jobs, helped raise awareness of the industry, or in some way have had a significant impact on the industry. Dornfeld has ardently dedicated 30 years this month, to the Destination Management industry she is passionate about serving. She currently oversees operations of 20 US-based franchise and wholly-owned AlliedPRA offices. This includes directing the staff and franchise operations, while managing the global sales efforts of the North American-based AlliedPRA Global Sales Team. She has been an instrumental part of the success of the organization, continuing to position the operations in these regions as leading forces within the industry.
“As with many Baby Boomers in the travel industry, I am a part of a unique group that fell into and helped define the meetings industry of today, said Dornfeld. “As a strategic arm of the industry, we have gone from being called ground operators, mainly responsible for local tours and coach transfers, to Destination Management Experts, creating and executing sophisticated program experiences alongside our client partners. The evolution of the travel industry has been nothing short of amazing and a wild ride at times.
While the technology revolution has certainly made travel more accessible and convenient, it has allowed Dornfeld and her team to create even more exquisite experiences for program guests which helps to fill their souls with passion and inquisitiveness for the next destination. With the sophisticated technology available today, Dornfeld’s team can take guests on an entire journey with glorious photos and videos which tell a story for the buyers, all of which elevates the deliverables to AlliedPRA clients.
Dornfeld may be known for her vast industry experience and leadership skills, however among her colleagues who know her best she shines with her ability to inspire those around her, especially young people entering the industry. At one point in her career, a director approached her about making a promise to him that if she ever came across an individual with ambition, she would do everything to help cultivate their passion for the industry. Dornfeld never wavered from the promise and has continued with the commitment to “teach who she touches”.
An industry and community leader, Dornfeld holds active memberships and volunteers her time on numerous boards and committees, serving as the incoming President of the Site Foundation’s Board of Trustees, Sit SoCal Chapter, FICP, MPI and the Association of Destination Management Executives International (ADMEI). In addition, she serves as a committee member for the Girl Scouts Urban Campout annual fundraising event. She has provided her event planning and fundraising savvy and a network of partners to create signature nonprofit events for various charities. She believes one of the tenants of leadership is a responsibility to give back to the community and industry which has brought her tremendous fulfillment and an unparalleled opportunity to grow and succeed. Her motto has always been, “teach who you touch to create an atmosphere of engagement”.
